Shopping Fashion District Philadelphia
The Fashion District Philadelphia opened in 2019, transforming the former Gallery mall into a modern urban retail destination that stretches along Market Street in Center City. The $420 million redevelopment brought a completely new tenant mix, design, and experience to one of Philadelphia's most trafficked corridors.
The complex spans four levels and connects at multiple points along Market Street between 8th and 11th Streets. Unlike traditional suburban malls, the Fashion District is fully integrated with the street, with direct access from the SEPTA Market-Frankford Line making it one of the most transit-accessible retail destinations in the region.
What Makes It Different
The anchor strategy leans heavily on entertainment alongside retail — Round One Entertainment occupies an enormous footprint with bowling, arcades, and karaoke, while AMC Theatres brings a full cinema. This mix makes the Fashion District a destination even on days when shopping isn't the primary goal.
Weekday afternoons are the best time to visit — the complex is significantly less crowded than weekends, parking is more available, and the food court isn't packed.
Getting There
Transit is strongly recommended. The 8th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line puts you directly at the entrance. If driving, the attached garage on Filbert Street between 9th and 10th is the most convenient option, with validated parking available from several retailers.
Ask retailers for parking validation — several stores in the Fashion District validate for discounted rates in the attached Filbert Street garage.
